Topless Cranes

Topless or flat-top cranes got their names from their structure, which lacks the traditional crane head (also known as spike). This allows for broad overlap between the crane arms, flexibility in planning and positioning, and efficient work on sites with multiple cranes.
A topless crane allows for a minimum height difference (approximately 5 meters) between the crane hook and its head, as well as shortening the crane arms to a length of 20 meters. In a working environment where cranes overlap, this is an enormous advantage, making working with multiple cranes in the work area possible and efficient.

FAQ

What is a topless crane, and how does it differ from a regular crane?
A topless crane, also known as a flat top crane, is a crane without a traditional head (spike), which allows for extensive overlap and maneuverability between different crane arms, great flexibility in planning and placement, and particularly efficient work on sites with multiple cranes.
What is the advantage of the height and arms of a topless crane in a crowded work environment?
A topless crane has a minimum height difference of about 5 meters between the hook and the head, and the arms can be shortened to a length of up to 20 meters. This combination allows for numerous cranes to be concentrated in a limited area without interference between the arms.
What types of tower cranes are available in the Skyline fleet, and what are they used for?
The types of cranes in the Skyline fleet include spire tower cranes, topless cranes, luffing cranes, derrick cranes, and giant cranes for unique projects that require exceptional lifting capabilities. Each type of crane is adapted to different terrain conditions, varying working heights, diverse lifting weights, and different levels of construction site density.
